New leak reveals more camera details of the Pixel 6

The Pixel 6 is designed to be able to remove unwanted people and objects from photos. The camera sensor is significantly larger than that of the Pixel 5.

A good week before the launch of the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, additional information about the new smartphones was published on the Carphone Warehouse website that was apparently accidentally published. The leaker Evan Blass discovered the websites, but they are no longer online.

9to5Google was also able to view the pages. According to this, information about the camera and photo functions that are related to machine learning should have been explained. Google has emphasized in previous announcements that the new Tensor SoC should be particularly strong in this area.

According to the websites, the 50-megapixel sensor of the main camera is significantly larger than that of the Pixel 5 and should be able to capture 150 percent more light. Carephone Warehouse confirms that the super wide-angle camera is 12 megapixels and the Pixel 6 Pro will have an additional telephoto camera with 48 megapixels and four times optical magnification.

Magic Eraser removes unwanted image content

The website for the Pixel 6 Pro also mentions a front camera with a viewing angle of 94 degrees. However, this should only be available if images are recorded in RAW format, as the fine print under an example image reveals.

The websites also explain the Magic Eraser function. With this, users can easily remove people and objects that bother them from photos taken with the Pixel 6. The objects should be easy to tap, an algorithm should then calculate and conceal them. In addition, the cameras of the new Pixel devices should reproduce different skin tones better than before.

Other functions apparently related to machine learning are Face Deblur and Motion Mode. With Face Deblur, blurred faces can be sharpened to a certain extent. The Motion Mode can add motion blur to static backgrounds – Google shows this with an image of a Ferris wheel.
